A group of twelve girlfriends wanted to celebrate the bachelorette party of one of them in South Italy.

The call

Anastasia called us at the agreed time – we had booked a specific time slot on the website. The call lasted approximately half an hour, which was sufficient to discuss all the necessary details and build our upcoming tailor-made journey.

We explained to her that we had decided to organise a hen party for our friend. She was in love with Italy. Anastasia recommended we go to the region of Bari, Puglia, located at the “heel” of Italy. It sounded like a perfect choice for us: warm sea, delicious food, scenic landscapes, and a lot of cultural heritage. Just the perfect combination!

We wanted to spend a weekend at the beginning of July. We knew that it was the beginning of the high season, so we decided to start planning everything well in advance.

We requested to stay all together in a unique and authentic place in beautiful surroundings, but at the same time not too far away from the sea and from the main sites.

We preferred not to cook during our stay and we wanted to enjoy the renowned local cuisine, and ideally even learn to cook a traditional dish ourselves.

Renting three cars seemed to us the best option both in terms of cost and flexibility.

The reservation

Anastasia emailed us a detailed description of our tailor-made hen party and a quotation the following week. It included all the elements we discussed and agreed upon during our call. She also sent us useful advice to purchase our flight tickets.

As a result, we approved and signed the quotation electronically and paid a deposit. As soon as we booked our air tickets, we forwarded our flight details to Anastasia so that she could arrange a smooth car pick-up at the airport. We were looking forward to travelling to South Italy!

The preparations

Two weeks before departure, we received a comprehensive travel book setting out the complete itinerary by email. It also included many other things, such as travel advice, and recommendations for restaurants and about the Apulian cuisine, even though most of our meals have been arranged by Velstana.

Thanks to a specific reference number sent by Velstana, it was also available online via a link and on a handy free app – that can even be used in offline mode – available for iOS and Android devices.

First day in Apulia, arrival at the villa

On Friday morning, we arrived at Bari airport and headed straight to the car rental desk to pick up our three Fiat 500X booked for us by Velstana. Then we drove to the beautiful seaside town of Monopoli, a hidden gem of the Adriatic coast. This was the first stop recommended by Velstana, and it turned out to be just the perfect way to start our weekend! In our travel book, we also found some useful advice for a place to have a delicious Italian breakfast. In the afternoon we arrived at the villa. Even though we had seen pictures before, the villa exceeded all our expectations! Read moreHide

Cooking masterclass, the white city, and a party at a masseria

In the morning we enjoyed a delicious Italian breakfast. Then we relaxed by the pool of our gorgeous villa. At lunchtime, there was another proper local experience awaiting us: a master class of traditional Apulian pasta orecchiette. We learned how to prepare this pasta from scratch and we also made a delicious local sauce. Of course, we tasted the result of our work right after. What a delight! In the afternoon, we decided to go to the white city of Ostuni, Read moreHide

SUP excursion and beach time

We decided to chill on Sunday morning. We woke up pretty late, took a dip in the pool, and then enjoyed a hearty brunch on the terrasse of our villa. It was time to leave this beautiful place! We would definitely miss it. But our journey in Puglia wasn’t over yet! We drove to the pearl of the Adriatic Sea, the fascinating town of Polignano a Mare. There, we had a guided SUP tour to explore hidden coves and sea caves and to look at Polignano from a completely different angle. After the excursion, we had one last drink in the city.
